Totem Treasure Necklace

This piece is called Totem Treasure. It is a 'treasure' necklace - made of Zuni fetishes, gemstone beads and chips, sterling silver, silvertone and glass beads and other one-off embellishments.

Treasure necklaces are from the American Southwest and an adornment of several tribes there. They are said to bring you luck, long life, and prosperity. Each bead or fetish has special meaning to the Native Americans. 

This treasure necklace is comprised of beads and chips in semi precious stones including turquoise, lapis lazuli, hematite, red coral, malachite, jade and black agate. It has beads of sterling silver, silvertone and glass and a number of Zuni animal fetishes including squirrels, bears and bison. It also has a unique Navajo Mercury silver dime bead - bought in the Southwest of the US over 30 years ago and made from soldering together two silver dime coins from the early twentieth century.  These 'treasures' are strung on tiger's tail (jeweler's wire) and closes with a sterling silver toggle clasp of a bar-through-a-circle studded with small turquoise beads.

Turquoise is known as the “Master Healer,” and is said to be the bridge between Heaven, Sky and the Earth. Many Native American cultures believe that Turquoise helps to connect the mind to the infinite possibilities of the Universe. It is also a Throat Chakra stone, helping to foster honest and open communication from the heart.

Red Coral : Red Coral works at a Base Chakra level. It stimulates the energetic pursuit of pre-determined goals.  It protects from depression and despondency. 

Red Jasper is a lower chakra stone. It is both gently stimulating and extremely protective.  Red Jasper helps to rectify unjust situations and provide grounding energy.  It can act as a 'worry stone' bringing problems to light and providing insights into difficult situations.  Working with and wearing Red Jasper helps calm emotions. 

Black Agate gives courage, emotional strength, self-confidence, and dispels fears. It is a protective stone that grounds emotions and assists with acceptance of all things.

Malachite is an important protection stone.  It absorbs negative energies and clears and activates the chakras.  It opens the heart and develops empathy with others.  It releases negative experiences and stimulates dreams.

Green Jade: Jade is a symbol of serenity and purity.  It signifies wisdom gathered in tranquility.  It increases love and nurturing.  A protective stone, Jade keeps the wearer from harm and brings harmony.  Jade attracts good luck and friendship.  It soothes the mind, releasing negative thoughts.  Jade is also called a “dream stone”, as it is said to bring insightful dreams.  Jade encourages you to become who you really are.

Hematite grounds and protects, engendering feeling of safety and security. It gives courage, strength, endurance and vitality. A magnetic stone, Hematite works with the body's yin yang energies to balance the meridians within the body. It focuses energy and emotions for balance between the body, mind and spirit.

Lapis Lazuli is a stone of communication that can bring truthfulness, openness, and mental clarity – creating a connection between the physical and celestial planes and connecting the wearer to a higher truth. It helps to foster verbal expression, opening and balancing the Throat Chakra.
